Artist Statement

Authentic, raw, energetic, and spiritual are words that viewers have used to describe my work.  Although I start my work consciously with composition, color, and visual elements in mind, I shift into working intuitively, and am often surprised and excited with the outcome.  That element of the unexpected in my art is what viewers have been attracted to and is definitely an inspiration for me in creating art.

acrylic paints, gels, pastes, and mediums, photographs, colored pencils, and collage materials are used to interpret my artistic vision. My explorations involve creating layers which I may at some point unearth as I move along in the process.  I may add photographic images, collage, or acrylic pastes and gels to develop depth, texture, and visual interest.  The layers inform the art in a visual history, and draw the attention of the viewer.
